Young hearts run free...

Got this off Queenie's blog...

Guess it proves what I've known all along - that I'm still immature and young and heart! Now, is that a good thing or a bad thing...??! I'm apparently 18 at heart...I think I feel that young! And just about every other patient and staff member at work does comment daily on how young I look and how amazing it is that I'm already a doctor! I guess I should take it as a compliment but I think some people find it difficult to take you seriously when you look so young...

Anyhow, give it a go for yourself!
You Are 18 Years Old

Under 12: You are a kid at heart. You still have an optimistic life view - and you look at the world with awe.

13-19: You are a teenager at heart. You question authority and are still trying to find your place in this world.

20-29: You are a twentysomething at heart. You feel excited about what's to come... love, work, and new experiences.

30-39: You are a thirtysomething at heart. You've had a taste of success and true love, but you want more!

40+: You are a mature adult. You've been through most of the ups and downs of life already. Now you get to sit back and relax.

Glorious Day!!!

What can I say?! Today is like the perfect day! The sun is shining. Birds chirp happily. There's a slight cool breeze to complement the warm rays of sunshine. I wish every day was like this...!

So what am I doing at home then?! Enjoying my first week of annual leave for the year! Have been busy planning our itinerary for Cairns. Figure if I do the hard work now, won't have to wonder what to do each day cos it'll all be figured out already! Think I will go for a run to Coogee beach later this afternoon when it's not so hot. Maybe grab an icecream and lie on the beach or grass and day dream about stuff...!

24 hours and counting...!!!

Won't bore you with what's been going on at work because well...it's been pretty boring!

Am excited though by the prospect of taking annual leave for the first time this year in little over 24 hours!!! Will be taking 2 weeks off. I'm basically spending the first week bumming around and sleeping in (my favourite pastime!). Then will be taking off with family and cousin to Cairns for 8 days!!!

Very very exciting cos having lived in Australia all my life, I realise that I have actually seen very very little of its natural wonders! In fact, I think I can count the places in Australia that I've been with my fingers!

Been spending the last couple of days working out what there is to do in Cairns and its surroundings and which cruise to take to the Great Barrier Reef! Also whether to try scuba diving or just snorkel!

Really hoping to see some turtles!

Happy to be in scrubs...!

It's week 2 of my surgical term at Campbelltown and all in all, things have been good! Despite the early starts and long drives to and fro each day, I think I'm actually beginning to enjoy my surgical term!

Realised today how comfortable it is to wear scrubs around hospital all day!!! It's like wearing your pyjamas - soooo comfy - maybe even more so!!! Don't think I'd wear them at home though... =P

Things that lift my spirit today at work:
1. chatting with lovely 72 year old lady who's been in hospital for way too long recovering from a left hemicolectomy,

2. getting to assist in surgery,

3. draining 2 litres from a nice Scottish fellow's HUGE bladder after inserting an indwelling catheter - somehow soooo satisfying!

4. kicking out 2 of my patients and surprisingly a third at the end of the day, when one patient actually asked if he could go home since he felt so well - I had no objections to that!

5. patient list back to single digit figure!

I didn't even mind staying back 40 mins...!

God does answer prayers! =)
